Welcome to Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf

Welcome to Blossom. We would like to give you here a brief overview our school and sincerely hope that you will come pay us a visit to truly experience the magic that happens here on a daily basis. We know that making educational decisions for children is one of the toughest things a parent has to do. Our hope is that we can provide a choice for parents. The field of deaf education is still in its infancy and to date hasn't always been one of stellar accomplishments.

Blossom prides itself on catering to the individual needs of every child entrusted to our care. We have implemented state of the art academic programs along with an incredibly talented staff who takes the growth of each of our students very seriously. We know you have many things to consider and some hard decisions to make concerning the best educational path for your child.

What makes us truly unique however, is our emphasis on the Montessori method of teaching our students. Dr. Maria Montessori strongly believed that human beings learn best by doing, touching and manipulating so she devised materials and an entire teaching philosophy based on the concept that when given the opportunity to discover or learn something themselves instead of being told how or why it is, a child's potential is boundless.

What a better way for children to learn! We know that to maximize their learning we must guide them in such a way that allows them to experience what they are doing, not just be told this is the way it is.

Blossom has opened our doors 'a little wider' to hearing children without a connection to the Deaf community. Blossom is unique in that our enrollment already includes many hearing children, as they have deaf parents or deaf siblings. With this new outreach, students would learn and grow in an environment that would offer them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to understand a culture much different from their own, and to learn American Sign Language, a language that transcends all geographic barriers.
