Lois Maroney
, Licensed Mental Health Counselor & Behavioral Therapist

Lois Maroney is a Licensed Mental Health & Rehabilitation Counselor and a member and Past President of the Board of the National Association of Late-Deafened Adults (ALDA).

Prior to losing her hearing, Lois was a foreign language teacher of Russian and French to college bound students in New York.  After Lois lost her hearing and progressed through the stages of accepting deafness, she started to realize there must be a great need in the community to help others who are deaf, late-deafened, and hard of hearing.  Already having a Masters in Education, she decided to go back to school and study for her Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling.

She is the founder of the local Suncoast Chapter of ALDA and has presented workshops and seminars locally and nationally on hearing loss issues. In addition to counseling adults with hearing loss at Blossom for many years, she also provides counseling services to the Deaf and Hearing Connection of Tampa Bay and adults at the Community Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Manatee and Sarasota County.  Lois is the recipient of the JC Penny Golden Rule Award and the Florida Advocate Award.

When not working, Lois enjoys skiing and white water rafting vacations, reading, watching movies, and yoga.
