Diane Dunphy,
Classroom Teacher, Ages 3-6

Diane, her husband, and two children relocated to Florida in July 2009 from Livonia, Michigan. Diane became very interested in Sign Language as she entered high school and became best friends with the only Deaf student in her public neighborhood school. Her interests grew as she saw the struggles and her friend dealt with on a daily basis.

Diane received her B.A.in Early Childhood Education and Sign Language Studies from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan in December 1995. After working at Dearborn Heights Montessori Center from 1992 until 2004, Diane was accepted into the Interpreting Training Program at Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan and received her A.A. Degree in Sign Language Interpreting in 2007.  The past three years Diane has worked as an Educational Interpreter at the Elementary school and College level. Diane holds a State of Michigan Interpreting Qualification (QA), and is currently working towards becoming Florida State Qualified with the ultimate goal of becoming Nationally Certified (NIC).  In addition to her educational and interpreting degrees, Diane received her Michigan Montessori Early Childhood Credential in 2000 from the Michigan Montessori Teacher Education Center. Diane and her family currently reside in Palm Harbor, Florida and have been enjoying going boating on Lake Tarpon, exploring the beautiful Florida Beaches, and getting familiar with their new home.
