Carol Downing, Associate Director

Carol Downing is the Associate Director at Blossom.  Before joining our staff, Carol was an instructor in the Sign Language Interpretation Program at St. Petersburg College.  She also was the Assistant Director of Admissions for Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C for nine years, where she earned her Masters degree in Administration/ Supervison.

Carol brings with her an extensive knowledge of American Sign Language as well as a deep understanding of Deaf Culture.  She is well known and respected in the Deaf community and has been a nationally certified interpreter for over 20 years.

Carol comes from a very large family - nine children, all of whom live in Florida. Her father and mother both worked for the Pinellas County School System for many many years. After obtaining her national certification in Interpreting, Carol taught a friend sign language in return for scuba lessons during which they used ASL underwater! 

Carol resides in St. Petersburg and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
